Newsbrief: Electronic Arts has caused a bit of a ruckus with microtransactions in the latest Madden NFL mobile release.

Released last week, Madden NFL 25 is free-to-play on iOS, with in-app purchases EA's point of revenue. This isn't a huge surprise, given EA's recent microtransaction push.

However, it's fair to say that the game is rather tight with its "energy" system, with both players and reviewers slating the title for pushing its microtransactions with plenty of force.

Whether EA will be forced to tone down the free-to-play elements of the game, as it previously did with Real Racing 3, remains to be seen.
