I'm actually surprised by Sony's stance here. Even more so, I'm surprised by the lack of third-party Japanese support and content. The situation seems to be as barren as the Vita. I would of thought they had learned from their mistake and court Japanese developers; alas that is not the case. They are practically giving Nintendo Japan all to itself in both the handheld and home console space. Wii U sales have plummeted yes, however, come this holiday season, their should be a reversal and momentum with titles such as Mario 3D, Donkey Kong, Zelda HD and so forth. Sony could of easily disrupted Nintendo's strategy. It truly is odd.

Wasn't expecting them this year...but thought it would be January...3DS is set to take over this winter anyway with MH4 and Pokemon, I think it's good for Sony to focus there efforts elsewhere with PS4, they hype just won't compare with those two franchises, although the little noise Vita is making was smart I think...

This will make more units available in Europe and North America through January so I think this is a smart movie. Its interesting to read some headlines on other sites that say Sony has 'delayed' the Japanese release of the PS4 when this is the first date that has been given.
