Activision's Blur comes to mobile through Marmalade partnership

Activision's Blur comes to mobile through Marmalade partnership

October 25, 2013 | By Mike Rose

Cross-platform development tools company Marmalade today launched a new publishing division, through which it will aim to provide studios with the means to market their mobile games more easily across multiple app stores.

Developers who join the Marmalade Play program will receive access to the Marmalade SDK licence, visibility on partner stores, and help with design and monetization of titles. All the details can be found on the official website.

Notably, Activision is helping to promote the launch by licensing out its brands for a couple of mobile game releases. Blur Overdrive and The Activision Decathlon will launch on Android later today, and on iOS on November 1, through the Marmalade Play publishing campaign.

A trailer has been provided for The Activision Decathlon, while for top-down racer Blur Overdrive, a number of screenshots have been released.

This is especially notable, given that original Blur studio Bizarre Creations was closed down back in 2011. We'll update this post with details as they come through.

Update: Marmalade has confirmed to Gamasutra the studios working on each title. Megaramp developer Biodroid is behind The Activision Decathlon while new studio Appcrowd is working on Blur Overdrive.
