Newsbrief: Sony moved to up the incentive to own a PlayStation 4 at the console's launch last night by teasing a new title in Uncharted series.

The new installment in the franchise is under development at Sony-owned Naughty Dog, the same studio behind the recent PlayStation 3 hit The Last of Us and previous Uncharted console games.

The studio also unveiled new downloadable content for The Last of Us for PS3, titled Left Behind.

Amy Hennig is returning as creative lead on the new installment, along with game director Justin Richmond, who also directed Uncharted 3. Naughty Dog did not announce a release date for the game.

I don't think Uncharted has much growing power, even if the PS4 becomes the go-to console this generation. I would have gone somewhere new if I were them, but I'm sure that's a tough decision to make.

It's a successful and known IP at this time. Better to guarantee your first game on a new console is a success than to take a risk this early on in the console life cycle.

Of course, I just don't see it becoming as large as Halo or whatever else, even if Sony is #1 this time out. My tendency would be to try and find that "next big franchise" but that's me.

From this trailer alone, I have the feeling they're trying to hit both ends. I bet this game is gonna be completely different to previous Uncharted games, in terms of atmosphere, setting and gameplay. You'll probably play as Sir Francis Drake instead of Nathan Drake. This way, they can set up a sort of "new franchise" while still captalizing on a recognized IP name.

Some games pulled that off successfully (Resident Evil 4 comes to mind).

You mean the next big franchise like The Last of Us?

Uncharted is fun until later in the games when the enemies become bullets sponges. Not really interested in this at all. Another Last of Us would draw me in though!

Uncharted 4 is a good reason to have a ps4 for me :)

That was a cool video of an antique map. I wonder what the game will look like.
