Newsbrief: Creative England, a British digital media investment firm funded in part by the European Union, today announced that it has awarded 50,000 ($82,845) to UK studio Amuzo, for a new project headed up by industry veteran Adrian Smith.

Smith has previously worked on a whole host of highly-rated titles, like Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye, Tomb Raider and Killer Instinct. Amuzo has previously been a work-for-hire studio, but this cash injection will allow the company to kickstart its first original IP.

Greener Grass is an arcade-style adventure game set in "a quintessentially British village." The company will no doubt be looking to take advantage of the UK video game tax breaks, if they ever actually arrive.

This 50,000 cash injection comes as part of Creative England's GamesLab initiative, through which it is pumping 1 million ($1.66 million) into the UK games industry to fund innovative games and IP.
