Newsbrief: Crytek announced this morning that its giving away its new Renderdoc graphics debugger utility for free.

According to Crytek, Renderdoc is a downloadable utility that developers can use to capture and then replay video, frame-by-frame, from any Windows program running on Direct3D 11 or 11.1.

Crytek claims Renderdoc was built and tweaked during the development of multiple CryEngine games, and is designed to help graphics programmers pin down and diagnose graphical errors -- you just launch your application through RenderDoc, then capture a frame and analyze it using graphics and API inspection tools built into the utility.

Crytek claims that Renderdoc will be updated over time to improve its features and add support for non-Windows platforms.

If you're interested, you can download Renderdoc from the CryEngine website and find more information about how to best use it on CryDev, Crytek's developer community website.
