Newsbrief: Seattle-based DropForge Games confirmed today that it has partnered with Australian studio Blue Manchu to bring Manchu's free-to-play browser-based game Card Hunter to mobile devices.

This is the debut project for DropForge, which was founded late last year with funding from World of Tanks progenitor Wargaming.net. The studio is led by David Bluhm, who previously founded mobile game studio Z2, and includes among its ranks Joe McDonagh, a PopCap veteran who worked on Card Hunter at Blue Manchu before joining up with DropForge.

“We think card games will be huge,” stated Bluhm in a press release confirming the project. “We aim to bring a new, exciting hybrid game genre to more than 200 million tablets.”

The studio offered no further information on what platforms the game will be coming to or when it will be released. Gamasutra has reached out to studio representatives for comment on the news.
