Harmonix is making a musical F2P mobile game: Record Run
Harmonix is making a musical F2P mobile game: Record Run
April 11, 2014 | By Alex Wawro

Polygon reports that Harmonix co-founder Alex Rigopulos revealed the studio's first free-to-play mobile game, Record Run, during a panel at PAX East today.

Based on Rigopulos' reported remarks, Record Run seems to be a free-to-play endless runner featuring a protagonist that runs down a street in time to the music, collecting records and sliding under or leaping over obstacles.

The game will be capable of using music from the player's personal library to both score a level and influence the gameplay in some manner, perhaps by setting the pace of the protagonist or generating some of the in-game obstacles.

Of course, this isn't the first time Harmonix has dipped into the iOS market -- the studio released the mobile video remix app VidRhythm back in 2011, and before that it contributed to development of mobile games like Phase and Rock Band for iOS.

Gamasutra has reached out to Harmonix representatives for more information about the game and the company's plans for the mobile market.
