that Respawn cofounder Vince Zampella has partnered with casino game veteran Larry Pacey to launch Nuclear Division
, a mobile game company headquartered in the L.A. metropolitan area.
Zampella will serve as an adviser and board member of Nuclear Division while he continues to lead Respawn, which is currently supporting its recently-released sci-fi shooter Titanfall
The company began recruiting earlier this year, and though Pacey -- who serves as CEO of the company -- claims it has fewer than a dozen employees, he hopes that number may grow to 50 or more as the studio ramps up production on new technology and new mobile games.
"If you look at where we came from, developing games with small teams, this is the way to get back to that," Zampella told VentureBeat, though he evidently took pains to point out that he does not plan to leave Respawn for mobile development anytime soon.
"I would apply learnings from this back to Respawn, and I think that would help future-proof both of these companies," said Zampella.
Pacey responded to Gamasutra's request for further comment on Nuclear Division's project(s) with a polite deferral, claiming the company is still in the early stages of design and development.
"We are focused on building a world-class team of mobile developers and a suite of mid-core games that leverage the power of the always-connected mobile devices that people carry with them all the time," wrote Pacey in an email to Gamasutra.
