With Nintendo Wii U sales flagging, the Japanese publisher is pulling out all the stops to make sure that the Mario Kart 8 launch boosts console sales as much as possible.

Anyone who buys Mario Kart 8 before July 31 via retail or the eShop, gets another Wii U eShop game for free, from a selection that includes New Super Mario Bros. U, Pikmin 3, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and Wii Party U.

And an official Mario Kart 8 bundle will also be available next month, featuring a Wii U Deluxe system, Mario Kart 8, a Wii Wheel accessory and a Wii Remote Plus controller. The bundle will cost $329.99.

The above Nintendo Direct also launched today, detailing much new information about the game, such as new items and the Mario Kart TV highlights recording functionality. Mario Kart 8 is due to launch on May 30.

The buy one get on free deal is great. Now I have to decide if I should get W101 or Pikmin 3.

@ A W - I live in the US, and in the US, W101 is not included in the deal. Granted, I already have the game anyway, but still, for the ones that are planning on getting the Wii U (especially now with the Mario Kart 8 bundle), it would have been an icing in the cake to have W101 as part of the offer. In any case, even though I'm terrible with vehicle racing games for the most part, I'll admit that I'm almost tempted to buy Mario Kart 8 as the game looks great and the offer does include New Super Mario Bros. U and Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.

Wonderful 101 would've been a nice bonus. Out of the North American offers, I'm only interested in Wind Waker HD but I already have it. So I'm trying to figure out what I'll do with my bonus download code now.

Yeah I found out last night that the 10 games to pick from are for the EU deal. I think I already have the games the US gets to pick from. Kinda sad US didn't get more games to pick from. I may still end up getting W101 Later because it at a bargain price now.

OT: If you haven't picked it up yet, Child of Light is a great RPG to tide you over till Mario Kart 8 hits.

Mario Kart 8 has been my #1 most anticipated game since they first showed it at E3 last year. I'm a full-blown Mario Kart junkie and I've played all the games in the series to death. I'm very excited.

I love the deal Nintendo is offering, but I've already got all the games they're offering for free, except for Wii Party U. Only trouble is, I don't really want to play Wii Party U. I might sell my copy of Pikmin 3 and have it downloaded directly to the console. It's my favorite game released for Wii U so far and playing it for a little bit every time I turn the system on sounds good to me.

Good news from Nintendo for a change. Cool.

Nice. Free download of New Super Mario Bros. U included? Guess I'll be buying Mario Kart 8 sooner rather than later... :)
