Singing into your phone is the next step for Singstar
Singing into your phone is the next step for Singstar
May 22, 2014 | By Mike Rose

Newsbrief: Ever since the original launch of Singstar, the team behind the karaoke game has sought to remove as much friction as possible between the players and the core concept of singing together.

This previously involved taking the game free-to-play, but there still remained one issue -- players needed microphones to even begin. Now SingStar game director Chris Bruce has revealed that a mobile app will be released later this year, that will allow players to use their phones and tablets as microphones for the game.

A Singstar app for mobile will not only allow for singing into your phone, but also let you create playlists to upload to the game. The app will work with the PlayStation 3 version of Singstar, and the newly announced PS4 version.

To date, the Singstar series has sold more than 26 million copies. More details can be found on the PlayStation blog.
