"Nothing can kill the games will always survive, for better and for worse."
- In his Nordic Games talk Ste Curran reminds developers that no matter how the industry changes, games will always exist.

Agency co-founder and game industry veteran Ste Curran gave an impassioned presentation about the unending litany of potentially fatal threats to the game industry at the Nordic Game 2014 Conference last week.

There's no simple way to succintly sum up Curran's talk, but it's worth watching in full. Luckily it was captured by someone holding a camera in the audience, so we've gone ahead and embedded that recording above.

I agree that the human impulse to play, and the impulse to create, will never die. However, what most developers refer to as "the game industry"--its politics, its economic realities, its public image, the expectations of its audience--the money flow, the sorts of projects that get funded, the specific channels from developer to consumer--those things are infinitely more malleable.
