Just weeks after Airtight Games released adventure game Murdered: Soul Suspect, a new report suggests that the studio has closed its doors.

Geekwire has been to the company's Redmond headquarters, and says that the offices are shuttered, while a sign outside states that the studio is closing down, and selling off its office equipment.

Airtight was originally founded back in 2004, and has created games like Dark Void, Quantum Conundrum and Soul Fjord. The company suffers layoffs earlier this year.

Gamasutra has contacted Airtight to confirm the closure.

UPDATE: Airtight Games has posted a farewell message on its official Twitter account. Some developers have corroborated the news, with one saying he was affected and another confirming that the studio had been in financial trouble since January.

Murdered Soul Suspect must have been their last hope :(

I didn't know it was that bad. Quantum Conundrum was an OK game for me.

That was with Kim Swift (Portal) who then left.

Management seemed to be unable to finish a game. The other three I can think of (Soul Fjord, Dark Void, Murdered) are all great ideas delivered in unpolished packages (Soul Fjord better than the others). Murdered was incomplete to the point where multiple reviews point out that the game was obviously unfinished - it happens to everyone, but usually you spackle it over.

After Squeenix quiet launched Murdered with almost zero publicity this seemed sadly likely. Good luck to everyone.

Yeah but I thought Kim joined Airtight as a full-time employee? I was surprised at the news that she left. It made me wonder if Quantum Conundrum didn't sell well.

I got a chance to play murdered and I really tried to give it a chance. It was a new concept and a new attempt at something which kind of worked for LA Noire.

After the second or third time of not being able to get away from the demons for an extended period of play I gave the controller back and said, "Not for me".

I never wanna see people just completely fold up though. ouch.
