Curse lands $16 million for game VoIP and community services
Curse lands $16 million for game VoIP and community services
July 9, 2014 | By Christian Nutt

Today Curse announced that it has secured $10 million in round B venture capital funding and a $6 million in debt funding for a total of $16 million -- and a grand total of $22 million in funding so far.

Curse offers a suite of services and products to appeal to hardcore gamers -- from community management to livestreaming, eSports, and modding communities.

The company recently launched Curse Voice, a VoIP service for games -- which has picked up over a million users in just 2 weeks in beta. Curse says that the difference between its service and others is that it hides personally identifiable information, including IP address, from players that connect over Curse Voice.

In May, the company announced that it would be taking over running Kerbal Space Program's mod community on its CurseForge site -- a mod repository, and now the official source of KSP mods.

The company will use the funds to further develop Curse Voice and its community offerings, it said in a statement. The VC funding round was led by new Curse investor GGV Capital, while the $6 million in debt financing came from Multiplier Capital.
