According to a lawsuit from novelist Robert Crais, writer of L.A. Requiem and The Last Detective, Activision title True Crime: Streets of L.A. should be barred from release because it illegally copies his works. Crais claims that the game lifts ideas from his books featuring a former Los Angeles Police Department officer Elvis Cole.
The author's suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, seeks a court order halting Activision's planned 4th November release of the game, destruction of all infringing works and unspecified monetary damages.
