A week after the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) released a statement condemning online harassment, the organization says that it has been working with the FBI to deal with the increase in online harassment of game developers.

The last few weeks have seen harassment of game developers rise, to the point where thousands of devs have come together to sign an open letter calling for diversity.

Now IGDA executive director Kate Edwards has told Polygon that she met with the FBI recently, to discuss what can be done about the rising issue.

"They noted a rise in activity," she says. "They themselves monitor this activity, but they're focused more on cybercrime issues like hacking and very malicious harassment."

Now the IGDA is also setting up an online resource for developers affected by online harassment, with the plan to have a website in place soon.

"What [the FBI] wanted from me was an interface for developers so they can share preventative measures they want to get out to us," she adds. "We met, discussed the issue and said, 'Let's collaborate.' They said if you have an online presence as a game developer you need to think about security issues. That was the basis of the meeting."
