Pre-GDC: Solid State Reveals Abandon Interactive, Riot Games Using Current SDK
Content delivery software company Solid State Networks has revealed several of the companies incorporating its Solid Axis Current SDK for update and patch delivery.

Riot Games (League of Legends: Clash of Fates), Abandon Interactive Entertainment (Freaky Creatures), and Wizards of the Coast (D&D Insider) have implemented Current SDK for content delivery for their games, and each also uses Solid State SDN as their P2P delivery service.

The newest version of Current SDK, version 2.0, was announced at the Austin Game Developers Conference last year in September. It's designed to reduce development and support time and the company touts both reliability and flexibility in download technology.

Among Current SDK's features are "patch while you play" capabilities, data compression, optimizations intended to speed download and installation times, and hybrid HTTP/P2P delivery.

"We are excited that developers are incorporating Current into their games," says Solid State lead developer Travis Hilterbrand. "The features and flexibility give them exactly what they need to address the digital distribution of game assets eliminating the need to develop their own solution from scratch."
