GDC: Activision Confirms November Debut For Modern Warfare 2
The first teaser trailer for Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 has confirmed that publisher Activision intends to release the game on November 10th of this year.

A pre-Christmas, 2009 release date had been widely anticipated but the trailer, which was shown immediately following the Game Developers Choice Awards yesterday, was the first time Activision has publically referred to the game.

Unexpectedly, the trailer makes no mention of the Call of Duty brand, suggested perhaps that Activision intends to spin-off the Modern Warfare name as a separate series.

No other information has been released on the game, including confirmation of the platforms supported. The trailer does not appear to show any gameplay footage, hinting only of a terrorist attack at an airport.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the last game in the franchise to be developed by series creators Infinity Ward, has been an enormous success for Activision, with numerous critical awards and over 14 million online players on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

I like the idea of focus branding the "Modern Warfare" and dropping the Call of Duty name.

Most have always associated that full name with WWII, deciding which era is being portrayed or which developer is in charge.

This will keep it fresh.

Now, importantly, I hope the 2nd is as spectacular as the first!

Checked out the trailer, which is more of a tease. Very interesting. The one think I can't figure out is that you walk out of the elevator with those guys, right? so are you a terrorist?
