The 17th annual Independent Games Festival
-- the longest-running and largest showcase for independent developers -- recently closed its call for submissions, and officials are proud to announce the festival has seen more than 600 entries
for its Main Competition once again.
In total, the festival -- which is co-located with Game Developers Conference 2015
-- attracted 639 Main Competition entries
from both established indie developers and first-time entrants.
Some of the hundreds of promising titles entered in this year's IGF Main Competition include Game Oven's Twister-like mobile dance game Bounden
, Krillbite Studio's horror game Among the Sleep
, and Team Future's cooperative VR stealth game Black Hat Oculus
This year's entrants also include notable games like Inkle's lush adventure game 80 Days
, Schell Games' co-op retro shooter Enemy Mind
, and Flywrench
from Messhof. You can check out the full list of IGF entries here
This year, each of the IGF 2015 Main Competition award categories will feature six finalists, except the Nuovo Award, which will have eight. The Main Competition finalists will be announced in January 2015, and all will be available in playable form at the IGF pavilion on the GDC 2015 show floor. (The list of Student Showcase entries for IGF 2015 will be released in the near future.)
Once again, winners will be honored on stage during the IGF Awards ceremony during the 2015 Game Developers Conference
in San Francisco in March, showcased in the IGF Pavilion on the GDC Expo Floor from March 4th-6th. GDC 2015 itself will take place from March 2nd-6th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, and the IGF-related Independent Games Summit will take place March 2nd and 3rd.
The festival's organizers have also provided an official JSON feed
, which is updated regularly from live backend data. Teams can update their games entries, and interested IGF followers are welcome to use this feed to make their own custom IGF entry lists and pages.
