Simutronics Adds Kiz, Zaloli To HeroEngine Licensees

MMO platform creator Simutronics, most well-known for its licensing of HeroEngine by BioWare Austin for Star Wars: The Old Republic, has announced Kiz and Zaloli as new licensees.

According to the firm, toy and game firm Kiz is licensing HeroEngine to build KizPlanet, to be marketed with its forthcoming line of toys, KizPal and KizMoto.

In addition, Zaloli, a new game studio based in Colorado, will build "a groundbreaking new science-fiction MMO", according to the announcement, the first we've heard of the game development studio.

HeroEngine also recently announced "Seamless World" technology, with a GDC announcement revealing that the company now supported more than 100,000 concurrent users on a single shard.

In addition, the latest version of HeroEngine adds Autodesk Maya 2009 support and content packages for publishing via LivePush so that players can deploy content updates without ending their session.

Commenting on the licensing, Ben Armour, Senior VP of Corporate Development for Kiz, said: “We were looking for a complete solution that enabled us to rapidly build our online 3D Global Playground while maintaining a high level of quality, and HeroEngine was by far the best solution for us.”
