Newsbrief: The rising price of video games in the UK is boosting inflation rates, especially in the run-up to Christmas, says the UK Statistics Authority. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said that, along with motor fuel and air fares prices, "price rises for computer games were the main contributors to the rise in the rate of inflation." As reported by the AFP, the ONS added that video games were specifically highlighted in the October report "due to a number of new titles being released in the run-up to Christmas and replacing cheaper titles in the computer games charts." These rising video game prices helped bump the inflation rate up to 1.3 percent, slightly higher than September's 1.2 percent -- a five-year low for the UK. Analysts had originally predicted that it would stay flat at 1.2 percent.
