Piranha Games Licenses Infernal Engine For The Strike and The Hunt

Terminal Reality says its proprietary Infernal Engine, used in its Ghostbusters games, is being used by Piranha Games in two titles: bass fishing title The Strike, and hunting simulation The Hunt.

"Everyone knows about Ghostbusters, but we at Terminal Reality believe in the extreme versatility of the Infernal Engine," says sales and marketing VP Joe Kreiner.

Kreiner points out that both Piranha titles employ peripherals -- a fishing pole for The Strike and a rifle accessory for the Hunt, and he says this "shows how well the Infernal Engine works with gaming peripherals."

Piranha is developing the cross-platform Infernal Engine titles for Xbox 360, Wii and PC; the engine supports all current platforms except for the DS. It features a particle system, a content pipeline and "advanced" physics support.

"Most impressive is that we did not have to sacrifice the level size when we developed The Strike for the Nintendo Wii," says Piranha president Russ Bullock. "As well, the support we received from Terminal Reality was really impressive."

Texas-based Terminal Reality only recently announced in February that it would begin licensing out its engine, and shortly thereafter, the company teamed with Streamline Studios as a "content creation partner" on the tech.
