Ex-Activision, EA Exec Vrabeck Confirmed To Head Legendary Digital Division

After months of ongoing reports on the matter, film studio Legendary Pictures has confirmed its hiring of Kathy Vrabeck, former Activision Publishing president and most recently president of Electronic Arts' now-defunct Casual label.

Vrabeck will be responsible for a new digital-focused division of Legendary that will include a video game business, according to a Los Angeles Times report.

In its less than five-year history, Legendary has racked up an impressive string of box office successes, including Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Superman Returns, 300, 10,000 BC, and others.

Legendary also holds the film rights to Blizzard's massively successful WarCraft franchise, and is a partner on the planned Gears of War film adaptation.

Given the action-oriented nature of many of the studio's film, it is possible that Legendary may be attempting to secure some of the associated game rights to those titles, but there is no public information on the matter.

Vrabeck spent nearly seven years at Activision working up to her post of president of publishing; she spent just over a year at Electronic Arts until a company reorganization dismantled the EA Casual label as a discrete entity.

Blizzard never writes ya back about projects they supposedly encourage either.
