Sony Makes AILive LiveMove 2 Free To PS3 Devs

Following today's demo of motion control on the PlayStation 3, Sony has partnered with Wii MotionPlus middleware co-developer AiLive to make the LiveMove 2 Freeform Motion Control available to all PS3 developers for free.

LiveMove 2 Freeform Motion Control, a motion recognition and control solution, is designed to offer "continuous motion control by integrating motion recognition with motion tracking", enabling developers to incorporate gesture-based elements such as sword fighting, dancing, and martial arts moves into their games for the tool to recognize and translate.

AiLive says that developers only need to take a few minutes to train the controller with example motions, and will not have to bother with complicated programming beforehand with LiveMove 2.

Masayuki Chatani, EVP and CTO,
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc, commented in regard to the announcement: "The LiveMove 2 development tool is the premier solution for recognizing human gestures in games, I am very happy to be able to make this revolutionary tool available to all PlayStation 3 developers. We eagerly look forward to the new and engaging game experiences developers will create for the PlayStation 3 with the help of LiveMove."
