NBA 2K9 Sells 2 Million Worldwide

2K Sports' basketball game NBA 2K9 NBA 2K9 has hit the two million-unit mark, and Take-Two will publish a special "anniversary edition" of 2K10 in North America this fall to celebrate.

NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition will launch packaged in a "sports locker" in which players can store their games, and will include a McFarlane Toys figurine of the LA Lakers' Kobe Bryant, a poster of the athlete, plus a retrospective video covering 10 years of the NBA 2K franchise and the athletes that have been featured on its cover over the decade.

The company says it'll only offer 30,000 copies of the limited-edition package, individually numbered for authenticity. Of these, ten will contain an autographed fine art print of Bryant designed by artist Shephard Fairey's Studio Number One.

Players who buy the Anniversary Edition will have access to special online perks on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, like exclusive access to "The Gold Room," an online lobby where the company says they can play the game with celebrities and VIP members.

"We’ve always been very proud of how we engage our fans on a community level, and NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition is our way of giving back to all those that have supported us along the way," says 2K's sports development senior VP Greg Thomas.
