Glu Mobile CEO Ballard Leaving Company

Greg Ballard, long-time CEO and president of mobile publisher and developer Glu (Modern Warfare 2) has announced that he will leave the company, though he'll stay in place til Glu finds a successor.

The NASDAQ-traded mobile developer, which recently announced a slew of mobile phone adaptations with Activision, including Tony Hawk: RIDE and Blur, has retained an executive recruiting firm to look for its new head.

Glu does note in its official announcement: "The company anticipates that, in order to help ensure a smooth transition, Mr. Ballard will remain in his role until his successor is in place."

To assuage any concerns of Ballard's leaving being related to bad results, the company also announced that "it expects its final financial results for the second quarter to be consistent with the guidance that the company provided on May 6, 2009", and full fiscal year results will also be as currently provided.

Ballard commented, in a statement: “After six years, I have decided the timing is right to look for a new challenge. I’m incredibly proud of how much we accomplished during my tenure, having built what I believe to be a world-class global enterprise."

“The Glu board and I also share the view that this is a good time to bring in new leadership for the company, as we focus on returning to generating positive cash and begin even greater investment in next-generation mobile platforms. I especially want to thank the tireless and dedicated efforts of the worldwide Glu team, who I continue to believe are the best in the business."
