A third-party Wii remote recharging docking station has been recalled by distributor Griffin International after several reports of overheating.
The "Wii 4-Dock Recharge Station" device was manufactured in China and sold under two brand names, Psyclone Essentials and React, at various retailers in the United States between January 2008 and July 2009.
According to a U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission bulletin, Griffin has received six reports of overheating across four devices, two of which resulted in minor burns but no serious injury.
Support is currently being provided through the Psyclone brand.
"We are voluntarily recalling our Wii 4-Dock Recharge Station (also sold under the React brand) due to an overheating problem that has, in a few very rare instances, caused batteries to short circuit," explained Bob Griffin, listed as president and CEO of Psyclone.
Customers who own a version of the 4-Dock device can send it back to Psyclone to receive a free redesigned replacement.

I didn't know the wii was that HOT.
I'm sure tempers are FLARING from all these china recalls.
They are offering free replacements? I hope they don't get the COLD shoulder from consumers.
What did they do? Put a PENTIUM 4 in there (because they run HOT)?
I guess psyclone had a PYROkinetic on the design team.
Do they use a IEEE 1394 bus or something (FIREWire bus for you apple people)?
Atleast they didn't discontinue the docking station; it would be a shame for them to 'drop it like it's HOT'.
And the finale
I guess some people found the heat un-BEAR-able.
any more? I'm not a comedian, and I'm not quiting my day job. I think I showed why.
