Release This:  The Beatles: Rock Band  Debuts Worldwide

Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in an exclusively compiled list.

This week that brings The Beatles: Rock Band to North America and Europe, while Japan gets Pocket Monsters HeartGold and SoulSilver.

The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending September 12th, 2009.

Harmonix's Beatles-themed band simulation title The Beatles: Rock Band is set to hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii in North America this week.

Other standout debuts include Codemasters' rally racing sequel DIRT 2, the Q Entertainment compilation Qubed, and a PSP port for NIS America's strategy-RPG Disgaea 2.

The Beatles: Rock Band will see a simultaneous release in Europe this week, where it will arrive alongside a debuting Guitar Hero 5.

Gamers in the UK will also see the worldwide multiplatform premiere of the film tie-in title Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, along with other region-exclusive titles like Championship Manager 2010 and Mean Girls.

Games Released in Japan:

PlayStation 3:
- Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution

Nintendo DS:
- Arabians Lost
- Pocket Monsters HeartGold
- Pocket Monsters SoulSilver

PlayStation Portable:
- Maplus: Portable Navi 3

It's a quiet week in Japan, with the PlayStation 3 version of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution amounting to the region's sole console release for the week.

Portable platforms see significantly more action, with the Nintendo DS hosting a pair of new Pokemon releases. Pocket Monsters HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of Pokemon Gold and Silver, both of which originally debuted for the Game Boy Color platform in 2000.

The Nintendo DS will additionally receive a port of Prototype's visual novel Arabians Lost this week, while PSP owners get the GPS navigation software Maplus: Portable Navi 3.

Good info, but there's one minor mistake; "LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition" is actually a PlayStation 3 exclusive (you have it listed under Xbox 360). Just be careful about that kind of info as we get closer to the holiday season. At least we're finally out of the summer gaming drought!
