Amazon Selling First-Party PSN Titles

Amazon is now selling PlayStation Network games and downloadable content in North America, allowing shoppers to purchase 21 PlayStation 3 titles, 25 for PSP, and 19 PSone classic games through the online retailer's U.S. site.

The site's selection is so far limited to Sony-published releases, such as Flower, Wipeout HD, and PixelJunk Monsters. Customers that purchase first-party games or downloadable content (e.g. expansions, LittleBigPlanet costumes) will receive an online game code that they can redeem on their Sony consoles.

Amazon set up similar shops for rival console digital download services WiiWare and Xbox Live Arcade in April 2009. Though the WiiWare catalog is still limited to one release, 2D Boy's World of Goo, the retailer's XBLA offerings includes almost 30 third-party games like Metal Slug 3, Uno, and Ikaruga.

To promote the new PSN section, Amazon is giving away a $9.99 credit for a PSN game to customers that buy a 120GB PS3 system from its store, and a $15.99 credit for a PSN game to those that pick up a PSP-3000 handheld. This offer expires on October 17th.
