Ubisoft looks to build mobile presence with Longtail acquisition

October 14, 2015 | By Chris Kerr

Ubisoft has announced the acquisition of Canadian developer Longtail Halifax for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-person strong Longtail team has considerable experience in developing social and casual games, and previously helped Ubisoft produce Rocksmith and Sports Connection

Jean-Michel Detoc, executive director of Ubisoft mobile business, explained the developer has been picked up to help the company develop and expand its network of mobile studios.

Longtail will be now be rebranded as Ubisoft Halifax and will look to add 10 new recruits to its ranks.

Those of you with a keen memory will remember that this isn't the first time Ubisoft has bought out a Longtail studio, with the Assassin's Creed creator purchasing Longtail Quebec back in 2010.
