Blade Games Picks Up EA, Microsoft Vets

Outsourcing and development studio Blade Games World has picked up two new hires, veterans of Microsoft China and EA China, in what it calls a period of growth.

Former producer and general manager of EA Pogo Shanghai Justin Weng steps in as Blade's head of product development, where he'll manage the production teams of Blade's outsourcing division, and oversee an unannounced internal project.

Blade's new senior art director Tony Zander has an 18-year history in art direction roles, says the company, most recently in technical art director and design director roles at Microsoft on its Flight Simulator development teams. Zander will head artistic vision for outsourcing products and asset creation for internal development.

Zander joins the company with more than 18 years in the art direction field. Most recently, he held several technical art director and design director positions at Microsoft including various roles on MS Flight Simulator development teams. Zander will be leading the artistic vision for the outsourcing projects as well as the creation of assets for internal projects.

"Both our external outsourcing business and our internal projects are growing to a size where we have begun to add new staff,” says Blade CEO Tom Sperry. "We are optimistic about both sides of our business and plan to see further expansion in the coming months."

Blade Games World is headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, and has offices in China's Shanghai and Nanjing. The company was formed by a merger between Blade3D engine provider Digini and Vyk Games.
