Release This:  Modern Warfare 2, Phantasy Star Zero  Debut in U.S.

Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in a custom compiled list.

This week brings Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Phantasy Star Zero to North America, as Japan gets The Crystal Bearers and Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star.

Activision's first-person shooter sequel Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will hit the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms in North America this week. PS3 owners can also look forward to a port of the puzzle-platformer Braid, while the Nintendo Wii gets a WiiWare remake of the classic NES motocross racer Excitebike.

This week's Nintendo DS lineup includes Sega's Phantasy Star Zero, the Harvest Moon series sequel Sunshine Islands, and System Flaw, which premieres as the region's first Nintendo DSi-exclusive retail title.

Gamers in the UK will also receive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 this week, along with other multiplatform titles like Dragon Ball: Raging Blast and Tornado Outbreak. The Xbox 360 version of Tropico 3 will make its global premiere in Europe this week, as PSP owners get the augmented reality creature collecting game Invizimals.

This week's Japanese lineup features the multiplatform Final Fantasy XI compilation title Final Fantasy XI Online: Vana'diel Collection 2 and The Crystal Bearers, a Wii-exclusive sequel in Square Enix's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles series.

On the Nintendo DS, Capcom readies the Mega Man Battle Network series revival Rockman EXE Operate Shooting Star. PSP offerings for this week include Atlus's Hexyz Force and Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star, a remake of Game Arts' 16-bit-era RPG Lunar: The Silver Star.
