The British Academy of Film and Television has honored Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet with one of its 2009 BAFTA Children's Awards, which recognize kids' entertainment across various categories.
Critically-acclaimed PlayStation 3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet beat out Electronic Arts' Boom Blox Bash Party and THQ's De Blob and Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise to earn the award in the video game category.
Other BAFTA children's award winners were chosen from among nominees in numerous categories like animation, drama, entertainment, and more; a full list of nominees and winners is available on the official BAFTA site.
User-generated content-centric LBP and its UK-based developer, Media Molecule, have won numerous awards since the game's October 2008 launch: For example, it earned the Artistic Achievement nod at the 2008 BAFTAs, received four 2009 Game Developers Choice awards, and led five categories at the 2009 Develop Awards.
