Get a great idea for a game. Make a demo. Get some feedback, polish it up, put it on Steam and watch the money and accolades roll in. Easy, right?

It's never that easy. During the Independent Games Summit at GDC 2015, Flippfly founders Aaron and Forest San Filippo explained why as they took the stage to discuss their efforts to create, fund and promote their debut game Race the Sun

Their story is worth hearing, as Race the Sun survived the pitfalls of Steam Greenlight and an almost-failed Kickstarter campaign to achieve financial and critical success. The game is now coming to console and mobile platforms and has sold enough to fund Flippfly's next game, thanks mostly to the brothers' self-described stubbornness. 

Their postmortem of the project is a welcome one that's worth watching for free right now via the official GDC YouTube channel.

About the GDC Vault
