How Epic created its eye-catching ProtoStar tech demo

Epic and Unreal have released a behind-the-scenes video detailing the creation of ProtoStar, a real-time Unreal Engine 4 tech demo designed specifically for mobile. 

ProtoStar is the first application to use the new Vulcan API, a cross-platform open graphics API that's being touted as the successor to OpenGL by its creator, The Khronos Group.

Epic first unveiled ProtoStar using a Samsung Galaxy S7 at Mobile World Congress earlier this month, drawing attention to the demo's slew of rendering achievements such as improved temporal anti-alisasing, dynamic light refraction, high-quality mobile depth of field, and dynamic reflections.
