Hotline Miami devs greenlight fan-made spinoff Midnight Animal
Hotline Miami devs greenlight fan-made spinoff Midnight Animal
February 29, 2016 | By Alex Wawro

Hotline Miami developer Dennaton Games is making a show of support this week for Midnight Animal, a standalone Hotline Miami fan game made using GameMaker and a heavily modified version of the Hotline Miami source code.

This is chiefly notable because of the fact that it's now up on Steam Greenlight after the Midnight Animal developers secured the blessing of Dennaton Games' Dennis Wedin.

Dennaton mandated they make the game available free of charge and keep its source code from being readily accessible, but seems otherwise to have given the Midnight Animal developers free reign to play in the Hotline Miami world.

Given that many developers got their start making mods for other games, it's nice to see Dennaton supporting fellow indie devs in its community. The makers of Midnight Animal hope to release it this summer across modDB, and Steam.
