SouthPeak Bringing Deep Silver Games To Americas

Publisher SouthPeak on Thursday announced a North American publishing and distribution agreement with Risen publisher Deep Silver, a gaming label of Germany's Koch Media.
As part of the agreement, SouthPeak will exclusively publish and distribute Deep Silver's games in the Americas. "…This alliance allows us to leverage [SouthPeak's] well established US publishing and distribution platform," said Geoff Mulligan, chief exec at Deep Silver.
Virginia-based SouthPeak has published games including the fantasy role-playing game Two Worlds and the stealth action title Velvet Assassin.
Deep Silver has published PC games including Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, Risen, the Wii game Cursed Mountain, and co-published the PC shooter Stalker: Clear Sky, among other titles. The company was founded in 2002. SouthPeak CEO Melanie Mroz said that the "strategic alliance gives us access to a great product line-up on all current generation platforms."
SouthPeak said that for "partial compensation" for the agreement, it will be giving Koch Media and Deep Silver a minority stake in SouthPeak Corp.
SouthPeak was able to swing its July-September quarterly profits to $687,000, up from a $2.7 million loss a year prior. But the company has recently been dogged by a lawsuit filed by Section 8 developer TimeGate Studios for breach of contract.
