Halo 3, Battlefield 1943 Tops Xbox Live's 2009

Halo 3 saw the most unique users on Xbox Live during 2009, and despite Modern Warfare 2's mammoth launch, predecessor Call of Duty 4 topped it to come in second.
Modern Warfare 2 -- which didn't launch until November 2009 -- came in third, followed by Call of Duty: World at War and Gears of War 2. That's according to new top 20 lists from Xbox Live program manager Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb, who also rounded up the top games on the service in terms of full versions purchased.
The Xbox Live Arcade title with the most full versions purchased is EA DICE's Battlefield 1943, followed by The Behemoth's Castle Crashers and RedLynx's Trials HD. Microsoft aggregated the entire Hasbro Family Game Night portfolio, which collectively took the fourth spot, with Chair Entertainment's Shadow Complex taking fifth.
Trials HD and Shadow Complex were doubtless aided in their list placement thanks to being part of Microsoft's "Summer of Arcade" promotion period, during which revenues on the service collectively rose 200 percent.
On Xbox Live Indie Games, I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1, the $1 project from creator 'Jamezilla', topped the list; among original Xbox titles downloadable on the service, Halo 2 came out on top.
According to Major Nelson, the top 20 games on the service in terms of connectivity are as follows:
