Saling The World:  Aliens vs. Predator  Tops UK Multiplatform Sales

Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide.

This week's charts, with data taken from February 18th, 2010, find Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth topping Nintendo DS sales in the United States, as Aliens vs. Predator leads across multiple platforms in the UK.

Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows:

Nintendo Wii
North America: 1. Just Dance (Ubisoft), 2. Walk It Out! (Konami), 3. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo), 4. Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board (Nintendo), 5. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo).

Japan: 1. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo), 2. Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board (Nintendo), 3. Zangeki no Reginleiv (Nintendo), 4. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo), 5. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo).

UK: 1. Just Dance (Ubisoft), 2. Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board (Nintendo), 3. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Sega), 4. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo), 5. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo).

Ubisoft's Just Dance again leads weekly Wii software sales in the United States and the UK, and has topped platform sales in both regions over the past month.

Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus-controlled action title Zangeki no Reginleiv continues to move up the charts in Japan, where New Super Mario Bros. overtakes Wii Fit Plus for the top spot.


Xbox 360
North America: 1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 2. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (Activision), 3. Mass Effect 2 (EA Games), 4. BioShock 2 (2K Games), 5. Mass Effect (Microsoft).

Japan: 1. Sacred 2 (Spike), 2. Dante's Inferno: Shinkyoku Jigoku-Hen (EA Games), 3. Steins;Gate (5pb), 4. End of Eternity (Sega), 5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Square Enix).

UK: 1. Aliens vs. Predator (Sega), 2. BioShock 2 (2K Games), 3. Forza Motorsport 3 (Microsoft), 4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 5. Mass Effect 2 (EA Games).

BioShock 2 falls several chart spots in the United States after leading domestic sales last week. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reclaims the top sales position, with a discounted Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 leading over Mass Effect 2.

Aliens vs. Predator makes a strong impression in the UK, outselling BioShock 2, Forza Motorsport 3, and Modern Warfare 2. Sacred 2 stays on top for the second week in a row in Japan, with EA's Dante's Inferno taking second place.


PlayStation 3
North America: 1. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (Activision), 2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 3. God of War Collection (SCEA), 4. Assassin's Creed II (Ubisoft), 5. Dante's Inferno: Divine Edition (EA Games).

Japan: 1. Star Ocean: The Last Hope International (Square Enix), 2. MAG (SCEI), 3. End of Eternity (Sega), 4. Dante's Inferno: Shinkyoku Jigoku-Hen (EA Games), 5. Final Fantasy XIII (Square Enix).

UK: 1. Aliens vs. Predator (Sega), 2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (SCEE), 4. FIFA 10 (EA Sports), 5. BioShock 2 (2K Games).

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 claims first place in U.S. PS3 sales after an Amazon "Deal of the Day" price drop. Modern Warfare 2 follows at second place, as BioShock 2 drops out of the top five.

BioShock 2 remains a strong seller in the UK, as Aliens vs. Predator and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 head regional results.


PC
North America: 1. EverQuest II: Sentinel's Fate (SOE), 2. The Sims 3 (EA Games), 3. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (Blizzard), 4. Mass Effect 2 (EA Games), 5. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision).

Japan: 1. Monster Hunter Frontier Online Season 7.0 Premium Package (Capcom), 2. SimCity 4 Deluxe (EA Games), 3. A-Ressha de Ikou 9 (CyberFront), 4. Age of Empires III: Complete Collection (Microsoft), 5. Left 4 Dead 2 (Zoo).

UK: 1. Aliens vs. Predator (Sega), 2. The Sims 3 (EA Games), 3. Football Manager 2010 (Sega), 4. The Sims 3: World Adventures (EA Games), 5. BioShock 2 (2K Games).

Sony Online Entertainment's EverQuest II expansion Sentinel's Fate leads PC software sales in its debut week in the United States. The Sims 3 drops to second place, as World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King returns to the charts at fifth.

In the UK, Aliens vs. Predator takes the top sales spot on yet another platform, outperforming longtime chart favorites The Sims 3 and Football Manager 2010 in its first week of release.

UK: 1. Professor Layton and Pandora's Box (Nintendo), 2. Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth (Capcom), 3. The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (Nintendo), 4. New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo), 5. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Sega).

Capcom's Phoenix Wright series follow-up Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth emerges as this week's Nintendo DS sales winner in North America, and earns second place in the UK charts.

Konami's Tennis no Ouji-Sama franchise sequel falls to third place in Japan after leading the charts last week, as Square Enix's Dragon Quest VI and Nintendo's Tomodachi Collection head regional sales.

Sony's God of War: Chains of Olympus spends another week at the top of the U.S. charts, with Shin Megami Tensei: Persona claiming second place after a recent discount in price. Im a huge fan of AvP and I must say that Im sorry but after playing a few hours into the three single player campaings I think that the game is average at best.
