Nintendo has sold over 10 million Wii consoles in Japan to date, a milestone it took 170 weeks to reach.
So says new data from Famitsu publisher Enterbrain, which puts the exact Japan figure at 10,009,736
, according to consumer weblog Kotaku's translation.
And according to that same report, the PlayStation 2 reached the 10 million mark much faster, hitting it in 131 weeks. The PlayStation 3 has sold 4,766,408 units in Japan to date, while the Xbox 360 has sold 1,235,049 units.
Nintendo recently said its Wii plays host to 76 titles that have sold a million units or more globally -- 22 first-party games and 54 third-party games.
