GDC: Havok Grows Asia Sales 47 Percent
Middleware developer Havok reports that its recent aggressive expansion in Japan, Korea, and China has spurred a 47 growth in sales in the Asian region over the past year.

The Dublin-based company partially attributes this increase ins sales to its office in Tokyo, which is focused on serving the specific needs of Asia's development community and providing local customer support. Havok also believes is sales growth in Asia will pave the way for widespread adoption of its pipeline of products in the area over the next two years.

Havok's tools and technologies -- which include Havok Physics, Havok Animation, Havok Behavior, Havok Desruction, Havok Cloh, and Havok AI, are featured in almost 270 released titles and more than 130 games in development. The company most recently added NCsoft Korea to its list of publisher and developer partners.

The middleware firm notes that its Intel-funded, binary-only versions of Havok Physics, Havok Animation, and Havok’s Content Tools for PC in particular have enjoyed much popularity recently, with 30 percent of their total downloads occurring in the last three months alone. One in eight of those downloads come directly from Asia.

Havok adds that its Tokyo office plans further expansion and localization initiatives for 2010 designed to demonstrate the strength of he company's commitment to is Japanese, Korean, and Chinese development communities.

"As the most recognized and trusted tools and technologies provider worldwide, Havok continues to be hugely successful in the games space, experiencing significant growth amidst an extremely poor economic climate," says Havok's Managing Director David O’Meara.

He continues, "Our recent successes in the Asian market can be accredited to the high rate of adoption of Havok’s highly advanced productivity tools and technology solutions by the skilled developers in Japan, Korea, and recently, China."
