Former RedLynx boss appointed CEO of Alan Wake dev, Remedy

August 11, 2016 | By Chris Kerr

Former RedLynx boss Tero Virtala has been appointed CEO of Alan Wake and Quantum Break developer, Remedy Entertainment.

Virtala headed-up the Trials creator for 12 years, and will replace Remedy's interim CEO and co-founder, Markus Maki -- who will continue to oversee studio production.

The Finnish studio, also responsible for Max Payne, recently partnered with Korean game company Smilegate to co-develop the story mode for online shooter, Crossfire 2

Remedy's desire to branch out seems to be the driving force behind Virtala's appointment, with the company talking up his experience "working on a wide range of games, including smaller scale productions as well as service-based AAA."

Virtala was singing a similar tune, explaining he'd been brought in to oversee Remedy's transition into a multi-game studio

"Shifting gears into a new production model like this needs to be managed well," said the new CEO.

"In such a talent-filled company like Remedy, one important part of this evolution is to continue empowering our people and project teams more and more."
