New Jam City: The studio formerly known as SGN rebrands

September 22, 2016 | By Bryant Francis

For those keeping tabs on the mobile games scene, SGN Games, which made headlines a couple months ago for snapping up Marvel Avengers Academy developer TinyCo, has made a notable name change.

The Los Angeles-based company now bears the name Jam City, bringing it closer in branding to its two largest mobile games, Cookie Jam and Juice Jam. Most notably, Jam City CEO Chris DeWolfe says no one really knew what the heck SGN stood for anyway.

“We're in the business of fun, and yet our old name was a corporate acronym that lacked the spirit of our products,” DeWolfe says in a press release.

It doesn’t seem likely that Jam City will be renaming all its games to be jam-titled. The company also announced it’s acquired the license for a Peanuts mobile game, based on the comic strip by Charles M Schulz.
