Emergent Claims Continuing Growth, Profits

Engine company Emergent Game Technologies says its profits beat expectations in its first fiscal quarter for the second quarter in a row.

As the company's not publicly traded it has no obligation to provide details of its finances, but said it grew its business in all territories. Emergent also says it saw its most significant market expansion in North America and Asia.

It says its growth is driven in part by its newer product, Gamebryo Lightspeed, introduced during 2009. In recent months, the company has also been visibly ramping up its base of licensees among Asian MMORPG developers; it's unveiled licensing agreements with Korea's Eya Soft, Shanghai-based Goldcool and Seoul-based JoyMaster Interactive, all of which are working on online role-playing games.

Emergent says it aims to support development of single and multiplayer games alike in any genre, and promises "dedication to providing a one-stop cross-platform toolset" for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and PC.

In March it unveiled updates to its Gamebryo LightSpeed development platform, adding new features and establishing a "Kickstart" program for more transparency on the devkit.

"Emergent is comprised of driven people and the company is hitting on all cylinders right now," said CEO Scott Johnson. Expect big things from Emergent as we make additional moves to solidify a leadership position."
