Destiny franchise is now a three-studio effort

Newsbrief: Activision-owned Vicarious Visions will be assisting with development of online shooter franchise Destiny, the studio announced this week in a Facebook post.

That brings the total number of studios working on the game to three, exhibiting a certain level of commitment to the franchise as rumors swirl around a 2017 Destiny sequel. Vicarious Visions joins independent Destiny originator Bungie and Activision’s High Moon Studios in developing the series.

Vicarious Visions said it “is partnering with Bungie to further expand the award-winning Destiny universe.” No further details were given.

Vicarious Visions is a game industry stalwart, having worked on many Game Boy games in the 90s and 2000s, and more recently on the popular Skylanders series. The studio is also working on Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy for PlayStation 4.
