Best Of Indie Games: God Save the Queen

[IndieGames.com: The Weblog co-editor Tim W. rounds up some of the week's top free-to-download and commercial indie games from his sister 'state of indie' weblog.]

This week on 'Best Of Indie Games', we take a look at some of the top independent PC Flash/downloadable titles released over this last week.

The goodies in this edition include a pair of beat 'em ups, a puzzle platformer where you control two characters at the same time, A challenging Flash game that'll test your patience, and a 2D platform game about a monarch who has to save his queen from a collapsing castle.

Here's the highlights from the last seven days:

Game Pick: 'Vegetable Game' (Terry Cavanagh, browser)
"Vegetable Game is a beat 'em up made for UK indie event World Of Love's vegetable/hug-themed game jam, where you play as a bear whose only attack is a hug that can force opponents into submission. There are portions of the game that requires quick reflexes to survive, but most of the fights can be won once you've figured out the trick to defeat the character you're up against."

Game Pick: 'Wonderful World' (ainefill, freeware)
"Wonderful World is a freeware versus fighting game created with Enterbrain's 2D Fighter Maker engine, featuring thirteen playable characters to choose from, an array of basic and advanced special moves that are distinct to each fighter, and a combo system which expert players can use to chain a series of attacks on their opponents."

Game Pick: 'Black and White' (Justin Jaffray, browser)
"Black and White is a puzzle platformer in which you control two onscreen characters at the same time, with one of them performing the exact opposite of whatever you instruct the other to do. The objective here is to get both of them to their respective colour-coded exits, moving from stage to stage until you arrive at the end sequence for the game."

Game Pick: 'Space Disposal' (Gameshot, browser)
"In Space Disposal you are placed in charge of a fragile disposal missile that will explode at the slightest contact with any section of a wall inside a spaceship. Your objective here is to collect every single nuclear waste barrel in each level before proceeding to the disposal chamber and detonating them safely inside the containment room."

Game Pick: '60s to Save the Queen' (Ozzie Mercado, browser)
"60s to Save the Queen is a single-screen 2D platformer with seventeen levels to play, in which you take on the role of a monarch who must save his queen from a castle that is on the verge of collapse. As the main title suggests, the sort of ending that you will get upon completion is dependent on how long it took you to beat the entire game."
