Inazuma Eleven 3: World Challenge Sells 505,000 In Japan

Level 5's Nintendo DS soccer title Inazuma Eleven 3: World Challenge sold 505,000 units in its opening week ended July 4 in Japan, easily leading all other titles in Media Create's weekly top 10.

That title alone outsold the other nine titles in the top 10 combined by almost twice as much. The next-best-selling game was Namco Bandai's DS game Taiko Drum Master DS Dororon! Great Battle With the Ghouls, which sold 70,000 during the week.

Inazuma Eleven 3: World Challenge and Taiko Drum Master DS Dororon! Great Battle With the Ghouls were two of four new titles released during the week that made the top 10. Other top 10 debuts include Arc System's PlayStation 3 game BlazBlue Continuum Shift and Namco Bandai's DS title Digimon Story Lost Evolution. Nintendo's Painting Class DS, released June 19, also broke into the top 10.

Last week's number one game, Capcom's Xbox 360 title Monster Hunter Frontier Online, dropped to 14 this week. The console MMORPG sold 93,000 units in its opening week.

Nintendo's Wii game Super Mario Galaxy, which topped Japanese charts for three weeks since its May 27 Japan launch, rose one spot to number four, selling 35,000 units, bringing its sales total in the region to 648,000 units.

Games falling out of the top 10 from last week include Monster Hunter Frontier Online, Gust's PS3 game Atelier Totori: Alchemist of Arland 2, Sega's PSP title Hatsune Miku: Project Diva (Dekkai Ohaidoku-han / Ohaidoku-han), Aqua Plus' PS3 game White Album: Tsuzurareru Fuyu no Omoide , Asgard's PSP release Starry * Sky: In Spring - PSP Edition and Capcom's DS game Ghost Trick.

Below are Media Create's Japanese top 10 games by unit sales for the week ended July 4 (thanks this week to Andriasang.com.)
