Release This:  Dragon Quest IX  Premieres Stateside

Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in a custom compiled list.

This week brings Square Enix's Dragon Quest IX to North America, along with awaited titles like NCAA Football 11 and DeathSpank.

The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending July 17th, 2010.

Square Enix's multi-million-selling RPG Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies makes its English-language debut this week on the Nintendo DS in North America.

The PlayStation 3, PS2, and Xbox 360 will host EA's college football franchise update NCAA Football 11, while 360 and PS3 owners additionally receive Ron Gilbert's downloadable action-RPG DeathSpank.

Disney's multiplatform game adaptation of the Pixar animated film Toy Story 3 is the only title scheduled for release in the UK this week, according to online retailer GAME.co.uk.

As North America gets its first glimpse of Dragon Quest IX, Japan is set to receive a Wii port of Dragon Quest Monsters: Battle Road Legend, a card-based RPG spinoff title originally released in arcades. Square Enix is also releasing an optional controller peripheral this week for use with the title.

Nintendo DS owners will soon see Nintendo's Fire Emblem series sequel Shin Monshou no Nazo Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu, while the PSP gets Konami's 3D fighter Busou Shinki: Battle Masters, the visual novel Clannad: Mitsumi Mamoru Sakamichi de - Gekan, and Capcom's RPG Last Ranker.
