Konami, Fox Confirm Wii-Exclusive Karaoke Revolution Glee

Konami and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products announced on Wednesday a partnership to release a new Karaoke Revolution game for the Nintendo Wii -- this one based on the hit musical TV series Glee.

Karaoke Revolution Glee, which debuted at E3 prior to today's detailing, is slated for an exclusive Wii launch this fall. It incorporates 35 songs as well as characters and scenes from season one of the Golden Globe Award-winning series.

Konami Digital Entertainment president Shinji Hirano said, "This partnership with Fox is very symbolic to us as we are thrilled to be the first to bring Glee to video game consoles."

He added, "We plan to elevate the Karaoke Revolution franchise even further by giving fans a chance to pick up the mic and interact with their favorite characters, themes and music from one of the most popular television franchises to date."

The Karaoke Revolution series originally debuted in November 2003 in North America on PlayStation 2, spawning many sequels, including other releases based on licenses, such as American Idol. Karaoke Revolution Glee will also support multiplayer singing games where players can sing in harmonies.

Gary Rosenfeld, SVP of New Media for Fox Consumer Products said, "This partnership also reflects our on-going strategy to develop Glee as a long-term brand at retail."
