Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide.

This week's charts, with data taken from July 22nd, 2010, find Dragon Quest IX outselling all competing Nintendo DS software in North America and the UK, as Fire Emblem and Wii Party lead the Japanese charts.

Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows:

Nintendo Wii
North America: 1. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo), 2. New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo), 3. Just Dance (Ubisoft), 4. Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board (Nintendo), 5. Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (Warner Bros.)

Japan: 1. Wii Party (Nintendo), 2. Dragon Quest Monsters: Battle Road Victory (Square Enix), 3. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo), 4. Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board (Nintendo), 5. Xenoblade (Nintendo).

UK: 1. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo), 2. Dance on Broadway (Ubisoft), 3. Just Dance (Ubisoft), 4. Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (Warner Bros.), 5. EA Sports Active (EA Sports).

Super Mario Galaxy 2 and New Super Mario Bros. Wii once again head Nintendo Wii software sales in North America, as Just Dance and Wii Fit Plus continue to lead over Lego Harry Potter.

Nintendo's Wii Party overtakes Dragon Quest Monsters: Battle Road Victory to reclaim the top spot in Japan, as Super Mario Galaxy 2 trumps Ubisoft's Dance on Broadway in the UK.

Xbox 360
North America: 1. Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar), 2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 3. Transformers: War for Cybertron (Activision), 4. NCAA Football 11 (EA Sports), 5. Call of Duty: World at War (Activision).

Japan: 1. Ninety-Nine Nights II (Konami), 2. Monster Hunter Frontier Online: Beginner's Package (Capcom), 3. Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi Extra (5pb), 4. Deathsmiles IIX (Cave), 5. Riot Act 2 (Microsoft).

UK: 1. Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar), 2. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 3. BioShock 2 (2K Games), 4. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (EA Games), 5. Assassin's Creed II (Ubisoft).

Red Dead Redemption retakes the top Xbox 360 chart spot in the United States this week, as Modern Warfare 2 and a discounted Transformers: War for Cybertron push last week's sales leader NCAA Football 11 to fourth place.

Konami's Ninety-Nine Nights II sells big in its first week of release in Japan, where Capcom's Monster Hunter Frontier Online outsells Cave's arcade-ported shoot-'em-ups Ketsui and Deathsmiles IIX.

PlayStation 3
North America: 1. God of War III (SCEA), 2. Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar), 3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 4. NCAA Football 11 (EA Sports), 5. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (SCEA).

Japan: 1. Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2010 (Konami), 2. Shirokishi Monogatari: Hikari to Yami no Kakusei (SCEI), 3. Totori no Atelier: Arland no Renkinjutsushi 2 (Gust), 4. Ryu ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu o Tsugumono (Sega), 5. World Soccer Winning Eleven 2010: Aoki Samurai no Chousen (Konami).

UK: 1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Activision), 2. Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar), 3. Blur (Activision), 4. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (EA Games), 5. Assassin's Creed II (Ubisoft).

NCAA Football 11 also sees a drop in popularity on the PlayStation 3, landing behind God of War III, Red Dead Redemption, and Modern Warfare 2 in this week's North American chart results.

Konami's baseball sim Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2010 and the White Knight Chronicles sequel Shirokishi Monogatari: Hikari to Yami no Kakusei stay on top in Japan, as Modern Warfare 2 surpasses Red Dead Redemption in the UK.

PC
North America: 1. Starcraft Battle Chest (Blizzard), 2. The Sims 3 (EA Games), 3. Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Gold Edition (Microsoft), 4. Neverwinter Nights 2 Gold (Atari), 5. Mass Effect 2 (EA Games).

UK: 1. Football Manager 2010 (Sega), 2. The Sims 3 (EA Games), 3. The Sims 3: Ambitions (EA Games), 4. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (EA Games), 5. Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Complete (2K Games).

Anticipation builds to a fever pitch for next week's debut of Starcraft II -- the title currently leads sales across all platforms at Amazon's North American branch, and heads multiplatform preorders in the UK.

Blizzard's Starcraft Battle Chest compilation has seen a surge of consumer interest leading up to next week's sequel release, pushing last week's chart winner The Sims 3 to second place in today's domestic sales results.
